The IP rating indicated above refer to products as per the catalog, without any holes for housing electronic and electrical components. In the case of punctures, the electronic and electrical components that are used must have suitable characteristics and be installed in an appropriate way to restore the desired IP protection degree.
The IP degree of protection (Ingress Protection Code) is a standard, conferred internationally, used as a tool to underestimate and classify the degree of protection of enclosures for electrical equipment against the intrusion of solid bodies and foreign liquids. It is regulated by the CEI EN 60529/1997 standard and is published by the International Electrotechnical Commission.
The degree of protection is indicated by the fixed term IP and two digits, plus any two additional letters. The first digit indicates the degree of protection of the casing from solid bodies of various sizes while the second indicates the level of protection against the access of liquids. The additional letters are used to indicate the level of protection against human access and the protection of the material adopted. For example, IP66 indicates an enclosure that is totally protected against dust and protected from waves and powerful jets of water.
